課程概述

This semester, the English Composition I course will introduce students to writing essays of diverse genres: classification, narration, comparison, argument, reaction/response, and exam essay. Throughout the course, students will practice each of these writing types through completing three written essays. In-class self-practicing, peer reviewing, and writing conference will also be held on weekly basis.

 

課程目標
 By the end of the semester, students will be able to (1) write genres of paragraphs; (2) review, edit, and correct their own and others' work; and (3) write appropriately on a wide range of topics. 
課程要求
 30% Written essays: Students will practice writing during class sessions on a weekly basis. Three written essays will be accumulated and submitted before the semester ends.

30% Final writing: Students will complete one take-home writing exercise as a final assessment.

10% Writing conference: In order for students to receive constructive feedback from the instructor. Students will meet with the instructor two times during an in-class writing conference. Writing for review limit to in-class practice only.

30% Attendance and participation: Students will need to attend class sessions and participate in writing practice on a weekly basis. Good learning attitudes include coming to each class session on time and engage actively in various writing-related activities. Your course grade will be lowered if you fail to do so.
